On the 16th of July, members of the BMGS played the inaugural competition for the Derek Trice Memorial Trophy at Harleyford.
Derek, who was a great supporter of the Society, regrettably past to The Grand Lodge above 3 days after this meeting last year and we have created a new competition in his memory.
Despite the heat those who attended enjoyed the course and a welcome cool drink afterwards. The winner, Dave Talbot, was presented with the Trophy by Derek’s widow Shirley.
It was a moving moment for all of us and we were appreciative of Shirley for being able to attend, Shirley was thanked by our Captain Stan Green on behalf of us all.
After the presentation we all enjoyed an excellent meal and our thanks to our President Mike Powell for providing the wine at dinner. For his benevolence, it has been suggested that Mike should consider running for an extra term when his presidency comes to an end.
Our next competition is for the Grenville Trophy which will be held at Silverstone Golf Club on 20thAugust 2018.
If you are not a member of the Society you will be welcome to play as a guest, please contact the secretary.
