BMBA association members and guests gathered together to celebrate the 2017/18 outdoor and indoor seasons at Chesham Bowls Club. Our guests of honour were W.Bro. Tony Robinson, Assistant PGM and his wife Jean.
We sat down to a splendid 4 course meal plus wine and coffee which was followed by keynote speeches from our President, W.Bro. Alan Brindle and W.Bro. Tony. W.Bro. Tony has assumed responsibility for the Province's sports associations and he also proposed a toast the the BMBA.
The event enabled the winners of the Association's competition winners to be presented with their trophies. The Intra-Association cup was won by W.Bro. Jim Lumsden and Maggie Pipe, with the runners up being W.Bro. Bill Pipe and John Mansfield. The victors of the American Tournament were W.Bro. Alan Brindle and Rita Wetherell who triumphed by the narrowest of margins over W.Bros. Brian Bristow and Tony Simmons.
Throughout the year, by means of raffles, the auction of Margaret Hearn's excellent cakes and score forecasts enabled Association members to generate funds for charitable purposes. A most important section of the lunch, therefore, was the presentation of those charitable donations. A cheque for £1,000 was handed over to the APGM for the Bucks PGL 2021 Festival and £1,000 was given to the non-Masonic charity Bloodwise (formerly Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research).
Our thanks go to W.Bro. Colin Ware who arranged the lunch and to Chesham BC for permitting us to use the clubhouse.
