A Magical Day

W. Bro. Eugene Matthias kindly turned out to amuse, and mystify, Buckinghamshire Young Carers on our August fishing outing to Lakeside Trout Fishery at Cublington with his magic tricks.  Over lunch Eugene managed to magic away the engagement ring belonging to one of the leaders, much to the amusement of the youngsters, only to find it again, as if by accident, inside the smallest of envelopes which appeared from nowhere.  Pure Magic!

The day was indeed a magical day for the Young Carers and BucksVision who spent the day with us to learn the art of fly fishing, and every participant went away with some skills, passed on to them by the casters who kindly gave their time, as well as some trout for supper.

W.Bro. Mike Stimson, APGM, also came along to have a go and although he didn’t actually catch anything he did look very professional with his casting.

The day was sponsored by Cymbeline Lodge, and their Master, W.Bro. Paul Brissenden-Henstock, came to watch the proceedings and present the awards at the end of the day.

Our activities are sponsored by Lodges who kindly donate some of their hard earned funds, and we would like to thank them for their generosity. In particular we would like to thank W.Bro. Robin Holt of Sanitarian Lodge No. 3458, a London Lodge, who had made two donations totalling £1300 from his Master’s List.  For a Lodge outside Buckinghamshire to make this sort of donation is generosity in the extreme.
