Beaconsfield Ladies

The Beaconsfield Centre Ladies’ Club goes from strength to strength with its programme of pleasurable activities and outings.

In January, Graham Laurie gave an illustrated talk on the History of Royal Flying from the start of the 20th century and an insight into his time as a Royal pilot. He will return next January to give an illustrated talk on Roald Dahl’s war – definitely a date for the diary.

February was the annual Quiz Night. Unfortunately the date had to be changed at the last minute due to adverse weather conditions but this did not affect attendance and a great evening with some light-hearted competition between the teams took place.

In March there was wining and dining with a twist – the Command Performers were guests and the diners were witnesses to a murder! This was the Ladies’ Club’s debut Murder Mystery Dinner and was a great success.

Alan Copeland entertained and ‘educated’ in April, with his illustrated talk on Curiosities in the Chilterns.

On a glorious day in May the ladies met at the Frog in Skirmit for lunch and from there went to the Chiltern Valley Winery for a guided tour and tasting. This was followed in June by a cream tea, also with wonderful weather.

The programme for the rest of the year includes:

6th July 7.30 water colour painting another chance to have a go!!!
3rd August 10.30 a visit to the river & rowing museum in Henley and a boat trip down the Thames
7th September 7.30 "how the streets of London got their names"
5th October Lunch in the Spice Merchant Beaconsfield
2nd November 7.30 magic lantern show
7th December 7.30 interpreting body language
