Almoner's Workshop - September 2008
Almoner Training throughout the year will continue to consist primarily of one-to-one discussion and briefing workshops for new Almoners given by the Provincial Almoner and his regional representatives. This will include practical advice to those coming new to the role and encouragement to recruit ‘assistants to the almoner’ in every lodge to share the workload and ensure no-one in need is missed.
Seminar training of more general interest to almoners was provided in May and June of this year when the Provincial Grand Almoner arranged briefing periods at Beaconsfield and Wolverton at which the job description and key responsibilities of almoners were discussed. He also arranged for Maggie Holloway, RMBI Care Team Leader at the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution (and Care Team Visitor for Bucks), to give very interesting presentations at Beaconsfield and Bletchley on her work both at RMBI headquarters and out in the field with lodge almoners. There will be similar seminars arranged for the Spring of 2009.
Almoners seeking guidance or advice on any aspect of their role are invited to contact me direct (telephone number on page 5 of the Provincial Directory)
