Almoner's Workshop - June 2008

Almoner Training this year will continue to consist primarily of one-to-one discussion and briefing workshops for new Almoners given by the Provincial Almoner and his regional representatives. Seminar training of more general interest to almoners is as follows:

Seminars for New and Prospective Almoners and all those who would like to talk about the key tasks of the office

Monday 19th May - 7.30pm - Beaconsfield Masonic Centre
or
Wednesday 18th June - 7.30pm - Wolverton Masonic Hall

Refreshments from 7.00pm. We shall finish around 9.15pm

Your chance to meet the Provincial Almoner, ask questions and to go through the Job Description and Key Issues of this important Lodge Office.

If you cannot make either of these dates please let the Provincial Almoner know and he will organise a more convenient date for you for individually-tailored training.

Current Almoners have all been invited by letter earlier in the year but any new or prospective Almoners will also be welcome to attend – book with Peter Carey (‘phone number on page 5 of the provincial Directory).

Presentation on the Work of The Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution

A Seminar for Lodge Almoners and all Masons with Maggie Holloway, Care Advice Team Manager.

Monday 16th June - 7.30pm - Bletchley Masonic Centre
or
Monday 23rd June - 7.30pm - Beaconsfield Masonic Centre

There will be Tea/Coffee and biscuits from 7.00pm. We shall finish around 9.15pm

Maggie Holloway not only leads the RMBI Care Team but is the Care Team Visitor for Buckinghamshire.

She will lead our discussion on the scope of the RMBI’s work. There are 18 Care Homes, listed on page 310 of the 2007-8 Provincial Directory. The Care Advice Team was originally set up to advise and support prospective residents but it now works increasingly alongside Lodge Almoners to help older masons and dependants.

If you are a Lodge Almoner and cannot attend, please send another lodge member who can report back and keep all your members informed.

Book a place now or respond to my letter in the Spring. Either way, please put the date in your diary.

Peter Carey
Provincial Grand Almoner
